Toddler bingo numeracy activity

Bing-egg

Number 3, between you and me, I have a confession to make. I LOVE bingo. The anticipation, the rhymes, the sheer panic as I can’t keep up with the numbers being called! For this activity I channelled my inner bingo caller and we had a blast.

You only need plastic eggs, paper and pens. We used magnetic numbers too, but these aren’t a necessity.

Simply fill your eggs with either written, or magnetic, numbers. Draw a grid onto some paper and randomly write a number in each box. We stuck with numbers 1 – 9 and I filled the eggs with magnetic numbers so that Ev could match the number to his sheet as it was pulled out of the egg. Giving your little one stickers for each matching number would work equally well.

I put all of the eggs in a tub and rolled them around each time before picking one and reading out the number. Ev loved the anticipation of which number would be called next, he enjoyed helping to open the eggs, and carefully placed his matching numbers on his ‘bingo card’. His favourite part though was definitely shouting ‘BINGO!’

This activity is great to develop listening skills, numeracy and observation.
