Easter tree decorating is a relatively new concept in our home, but I’ve read that this lovely tradition originates in Germany and is centuries old. We made our own decorations for Grandad’s cherry tree and Ev loved being lifted up to hang the eggs on its branches.
You only need plastic eggs and pipe cleaners. You could decorate your eggs first to extend this activity, but that’s not a necessity.

Simply help your little one to thread a pipe cleaner through the holes in the top of a plastic egg half to create a loop, then attach the other half of the shell. Ev loved concentrating on threading the pipe cleaners through the tiny holes and enjoyed decorating the branches of the tree! We took the decorations back inside after playing in the garden and he then loved hanging them around the house for us to find.
This activity is great for fine motor skills, concentration and learning about different cultures.
