The word ‘boules’, for me, conjures up memories of sunny family holidays in France as a child. While Ev is currently a little young for the traditional game , we used plastic eggs for a simple toddler friendly version.
You only need some plastic eggs!

Simply choose one egg to be your ‘jack’ and lay it a distance from your little one. Then encourage them to try and roll their eggs so that they land as close as possible to the existing one.
I placed a yellow egg on the grass and a few different coloured eggs near Ev. “Would you like to try and roll your eggs over to their yellow friend?” I asked hopefully. “Yes!” shrieked Ev, before picking up an egg and throwing it at the yellow one. With some encouragement, he attempted a few rolls. Then charged at the yellow egg with all his might until he had an orderly pile.
This activity is great for observation, motor skills and co-ordination.
